On Saturday, May 31 I performed as part of an opening act for Canadian Grand Master Fiddler, Patti Lamoureux. Playing again at the Rockway Community Centre, this spring shindig was a great evening where I got to see a lot of my old friends from the Niagara region.
I played a few solo tunes – Willow Springs, Braelyn and Carignan’s Clog (a few of my favourite these days). I also played with my friends Cassandra Swan, Mike Mattie, Natalie Picoula and Beth Bartley. We played a few lively numbers: St. Anne’s Reel, Bowing the Strings and Frenchie”s Reel.
I had a lot of fun and have begun learning a few of the great tunes that Patti played including Bluegrass in the Backwoods, Dragging the Bow, and a Norwegian tune that she didn’t know the proper name for.
The evening’s proceeds went to the Community Support Services of Niagara — supporting elderly & disabled people live independently in their own homes.
