I spent a week at the Grand Masters Fiddle Camp in Manotick in late August. I was fortunate to have lessons with Calvin Vollrath, Shane Cook, Kelli Trottier, Gordon Stobbe, and Brian Hebert. Here are a few shots of performances on the last night; me with Calvin; and my Mom who enjoyed a week’s piano lessons with Kimberly Holmes.

The week at the camp had a lot of great jamming, instruction, and fun. I had the privilege to have instruction from Calvin Vollrath and learned many things including his original compositions which were challenging and fun. One I particularly enjoy playing is “Masters March West” which is a jig composed last year in the honour of the masters moving to Saskatoon, it was also written under the same tree as my class learned it under one year later.

I hope to be at this camp next year!
